A wider view of Morocco
This suggested route connects three imperial cities—Rabat, Fes and Marrakech—with a journey through the Middle Atlas and the Sahara region around Merzouga. Casablanca is the proposed arrival point. The outline then travels inland before turning west through the Todra area, Dades and Ait Ben Haddou towards Marrakech.
Ten days allow full days in Fes, around Merzouga and in Marrakech, alongside the travel stages. This is still a journey across several regions, with changing overnight bases and significant time on the road. Use the outline to choose the balance you want between city exploring, landscapes and time to pause.
Cities, mountains and desert scenery
Rabat & Fes
Two different city settings, with time to discuss historic quarters and the places that interest you.
Middle Atlas & Merzouga
A transition from mountain landscapes to the Ziz Valley and the dunes of the Sahara region.
Dades & Marrakech
Valley scenery followed by a High Atlas crossing and a final city stay.
Destination descriptions explain the appeal of the route. Guides, entrance tickets, meals, desert experiences and transport are arrangements to discuss, not confirmed inclusions.
Your proposed ten-day route
The nine overnight stays below are suggestions, not accommodation reservations. Flight times, season, road conditions and your preferred pace will shape the final itinerary.
DAY 01
Arrive in Casablanca
Begin in Casablanca, with the first day planned around your arrival time. An overnight stay in Casablanca or Rabat keeps the opening flexible rather than assuming a full day of sightseeing after your journey.
Proposed overnight: Casablanca or Rabat. Confirm your arrival details before choosing the first base; airport transfers and visits are not included by default.
DAY 02
Rabat → Fes
Spend time in Rabat before continuing to Fes. Discuss which parts of the capital interest you and how much time is practical before the onward road journey.
Proposed overnight: Fes. The available time in Rabat depends on your first-night location, departure timing and agreed stops.
DAY 03
A full day in Fes
Keep a full day for Fes, with room to discuss its medina, city architecture and your interests. Decide whether you want a guided introduction, independent time or a balance of both.
Proposed overnight: Fes. Guiding, visits, tickets and local transport should be specified in the quotation.
DAY 04
Fes → Middle Atlas → Midelt
Travel south through the Middle Atlas towards Midelt. This stage breaks the journey to the Sahara region, with the day’s stops chosen around the travel schedule and conditions.
Proposed overnight: Midelt. Expect a road day; agree departure times, rest stops, luggage needs and accommodation preferences.
DAY 05
Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga
Continue through the Ziz Valley towards Merzouga. The scenery changes as the route approaches the Sahara dunes, with a proposed two-night stay in the area.
Proposed overnight: Merzouga area. Confirm the exact accommodation location and access arrangements; a desert camp is not automatically included.
DAY 06
Time around Merzouga
Allow a day around Merzouga to enjoy the desert setting at your preferred pace. Discuss time beside the dunes and any experiences that interest your group before deciding on the programme.
Proposed overnight: Merzouga area. Camel rides, excursions and camp experiences are optional ideas requiring separate confirmation of arrangements, suitability and cost.
DAY 07
Merzouga → Todra area → Dades
Leave the Sahara region and travel towards the Todra area and Dades. This is another substantial road stage, with valley scenery and stops to discuss along the way.
Proposed overnight: Dades area. The exact route and time available for stops depend on conditions and the agreed schedule.
DAY 08
Dades → Ait Ben Haddou → Marrakech
Continue towards Ait Ben Haddou and cross the High Atlas towards Marrakech. This varied stage connects the southern valleys with the city, but needs a realistic allowance for driving and breaks.
Proposed overnight: Marrakech. Agree any Ait Ben Haddou visit, guiding and tickets; allow flexibility for mountain-road conditions.
DAY 09
A day to discover Marrakech
Keep a full day in Marrakech before departure. Discuss medina exploring, gardens or city architecture, leaving room for the places and pace that suit your group.
Proposed overnight: Marrakech. Visits, guiding, entry fees and transport within the city need confirmation in your itinerary.
DAY 10
Departure from Marrakech
Bring the journey to a close in Marrakech, timed around your onward plans. Share your departure details early so the final morning can be planned sensibly.
No further overnight stay is proposed. Any airport transfer, luggage storage or late checkout needs separate confirmation.
Sahara destination stock photography for inspiration. It does not show confirmed accommodation, an included experience or an Anir Voyage departure.
Plan for distance, not just destinations
This outline starts in Casablanca and finishes in Marrakech. Check both arrival and departure plans before arranging flights or committing to the route. A late arrival may favour a first night in Casablanca; an early departure from Marrakech can shorten the final morning. Ten calendar days do not mean ten full sightseeing days.
Several stages involve significant driving, including the journeys towards Merzouga and the return through Dades and the High Atlas. Full days in Fes, around Merzouga and in Marrakech provide pauses between moving days. Exact travel times depend on stops, accommodation locations, traffic and road conditions; ask for realistic daily timings.
Share mobility needs, luggage requirements, your comfort with long drives and preferred accommodation style. If this feels too much for ten days, discuss extra nights or fewer regions. The overnight pattern is one night in Casablanca or Rabat, two in Fes, one in Midelt, two around Merzouga, one in Dades and two in Marrakech.
Make the arrangements clear before booking
There is no fixed price or service package attached to this proposed route. Ask for a written itinerary and quotation based on your dates, group size and chosen arrangements, so you can see what is included and what remains your responsibility.

These are questions to resolve, not a list of services already included.
Questions about the ten-day journey
Which imperial cities does this route visit?
The suggested route includes Rabat, Fes and Marrakech. Casablanca is the proposed arrival point. Meknes is not part of this outline; if you want to add it, discuss how the route, nights and travel schedule would change.
Is ten days enough for this route?
Ten days is the suggested framework, with several longer road stages and full days in Fes, around Merzouga and in Marrakech. It may suit travellers comfortable with changing bases. Discuss extra nights or fewer regions if you prefer shorter drives or more time in each place.
Is a desert camp or camel ride included?
No. The outline proposes two nights in the Merzouga area without specifying a hotel or camp. Ask about the accommodation and experiences you want, then confirm access, suitability, timing and costs in the written quotation.
Can we change the start, finish or overnight stays?
Use Casablanca and Marrakech as the starting points for discussion. A different arrival city, departure city or overnight pattern may change the distances and number of days needed. Ask for a revised route before confirming travel arrangements.
What should I send for a quotation?
Send your dates, number of travellers, arrival and departure details, accommodation preferences and comfort with longer drives. Mention city visits or desert experiences you want to discuss, then request the final itinerary, total price, inclusions, exclusions and booking terms.
