A journey through changing landscapes

Leave Marrakech behind as the High Atlas gives way to adobe architecture and the valleys of southern Morocco. This suggested loop pairs Ait Ben Haddou and the Dades region with Merzouga, the gateway to the dunes of Erg Chebbi. The return follows a western route towards the Draa Valley and Ouarzazate.

It is a compact introduction to the Sahara for travellers comfortable with long driving days. If you prefer a slower pace, ask about adding time or shortening the route rather than fitting more stops into each day.

Along the way

Ait Ben Haddou
Distinctive earthen architecture and a memorable setting.

Dades & Todra
Valley scenery and dramatic rock formations.

Erg Chebbi
Shifting light across the dunes near Merzouga.

Places describe the proposed route. Activities, guiding, entry fees and excursions are not automatically included.

Your proposed four-day route

Use this outline as a starting point for discussion. Final timings, overnight locations and included services will be set out in your confirmed itinerary.

DAY 01

Marrakech → Ait Ben Haddou → Dades

Cross the High Atlas towards Ait Ben Haddou, then continue towards the Dades region. The journey introduces mountain scenery and the earth-toned architecture of southern Morocco.

A substantial first driving day. Departure time, stops and the exact overnight location need confirmation.

DAY 02

Dades → Todra Gorge → Merzouga

Continue towards the Todra area before heading east to Merzouga and the dunes of Erg Chebbi. The afternoon route offers a gradual change from valley landscapes to the edge of the Sahara.

Desert activities and the choice of a lodge or camp must be agreed in your quotation; they are not included by default.

DAY 03

Merzouga → Draa Valley → Agdz region

Allow time around Merzouga in the morning, then begin the return west towards the Draa Valley and the Agdz region. This stage breaks the journey back to Marrakech into two days.

This is a proposed return stage with significant driving. The operator must confirm road conditions, timing and the overnight stop.

DAY 04

Agdz region → Ouarzazate → Marrakech

Continue towards Ouarzazate and cross the High Atlas on the return to Marrakech. Stops should follow the available time and your onward arrangements.

Avoid relying on an early arrival or planning a same-day flight until the return timing is confirmed.

Make room for the road

The Atlas crossings and the distance to Merzouga make this a driving-intensive itinerary. Mountain roads, weather, stops and seasonal daylight can affect the schedule; exact driving times should be discussed before you commit.

Share any mobility needs, dietary requirements and preferences for accommodation or activities when enquiring. These requests need confirmation before booking.

For a gentler journey, discuss extra nights in the valleys or Sahara, or an alternative start and finish. A longer trip may be more comfortable than adding activities to this four-day outline.

Before you set off

Can I tailor this route?

Yes, use the outline to discuss your interests and preferred pace with Anir Voyage. Ask about extra nights, different overnight stops or another finish city. Feasibility and the final route must be confirmed before booking.

Is this a day trip or a longer journey?

This suggestion is a four-day, three-night journey starting and finishing in Marrakech. It is not a same-day desert excursion. If your schedule is shorter, discuss a different route rather than compressing this loop.

Are a desert camp and camel ride included?

No inclusion list has been confirmed for this proposed tour. If you want a camp stay, camel ride or another activity, request it specifically and check the accommodation, conditions and cost in your written quotation.

How much driving should I expect?

This is a road-trip itinerary with long driving stages, particularly the Atlas crossings and the return from the Sahara. Exact durations depend on the agreed stops, roads and conditions. Discuss your tolerance for driving and consider extra nights if needed.

How do I enquire and get a price?

Send your travel dates, group size and arrival city on WhatsApp, along with any accommodation or activity preferences. Ask for a written itinerary and quotation confirming the total price, services, exclusions and terms before making a booking.
